New York Classical Players in the Bronx

  • Chapel, College of Mount Saint Vincent 6301 Riverdale Avenue The Bronx, NY, 10471 United States (map)

Commissioned by the New York Classical Players for a new work entitled “Concertino for Cello and Strings.”

Since 2011, NYCP has been captivating audiences in The Bronx with its compelling performances. We are excited to return to the College of Mount St. Vincent with this dynamic program that opens with William Grant Still's Mother and Child, an emotionally rich and elegant portrayal of motherhood from this groundbreaking composer. The program also highlights two living American composers: the premiere of Seth Grosshandler's Concertino for Cello, featuring the accomplished cellist Madeline Fayette, and Eric Nathan's Double Concerto for Two Violas with celebrated violists Misha Amory and Hsin-Yun Huang as soloists. The finale is Schubert's much-loved Death and the Maiden, known for its profound emotional depth and intensity.
